The Gateway at UC Berkeley will be the new home of the Computing and Data Science facilities including research laboratories, classrooms and auditoriums, offices, and event spaces. The roughly 367,000-square-foot building is located on the northern edge of campus, at the intersection of Hearst Avenue and Arch Street, formerly occupied by Tolman Hall. The majority of our contract is to create the building pads for the new structure. To reach this objective we will have to excavate and export approximately 73,000 cubic yards, as well as abate and demolish the buried basement of Tolman Hall.
